The Nihonmachi Street Fair considers itself the original “melting pot” of street fairs, with many aspects of Asian-Pacific American life—and San Francisco’s cultural life—expressed through performance, tradition, art, music, food, and community outreach and service.
The Nihonmachi Street Fair is proud of its 43 year history in serving the community through education, service, and youth mentorship.
Jerry Day

Jerry Day is a civic and cultural event that celebrates one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time and San Francisco native son – Jerry Garcia. This event captures the true spirit of Jerry Garcia as we celebrate his legacy, the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, and recognize his childhood roots from the Excelsior District of San Francisco. By uniting the diverse communities of San Francisco through Jerry’s music, we are creating something extraordinary for Jerry’s childhood neighborhood – the Excelsior District, McLaren Park, and the City and County of San Francisco.
San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival
When: August 11th – 13th, 2017

Outside Lands highlights the city and its environs by putting special emphasis on the food, wine, art and culture that make the Bay Area so unique. For the 2017 festival, fans will have access to more than 80 Bay Area restaurants, 40+ Northern California wineries, close to 30 West coast breweries, and a collection of the region’s best cocktail bars. Both GastroMagic, a fan favorite stage devoted entirely to the synergy between culinary and performance art and The Barbary, a variety tent named for San Francisco’s notorious Barbary Coast featuring top names in comedy, podcasts, music, improv and general weirdness will also return to the festival.
Noe Valley Wine Walk
When: August 17th, 2017
Where: 24th Street from Diamond to Church and Castro Street

The Noe Valley Merchants and Professionals Association and Steven Restivo Event Services, Inc. are hosting the 7th Annual Noe Valley Wine Walk on Thursday, August 17th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The tasting event will include merchants offering wine samples and special treats inside their stores throughout 24th Street from Diamond to Church and on Castro Street.
Attendees wishing to participate in the sampling program may purchase on-site tickets for $25 or advance tickets for $20 via the website. The on-site ticket sales location is at the Noe Valley Town Square located at 3865 24th St. between Sanchez & Vicksburg. Day of tickets can also be purchased at Cliché Noe located at 4175 24th Street. Participants will receive a wine glass and map with all of the tasting locations. Ticket sales on the day of the event will be “Cash Only.” Please note: The last sale of tickets is 7:30 PM, pouring ends at 7:45 PM, per the ABC permit.

The Giant Race

Join us for the 8th annual San Francisco Giant Race Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids Race & Family Relay on August 27, 2017. The Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K courses tour the scenic San Francisco waterfront and participants receive a shirt, finisher medal and exclusive runner bobblehead featuring a Giants player. Kids Race & Family Relay participants receive a medal and bobblehead. All races finish on the field at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.
Origami Palooza 2017
When: August 27th, 2017
Where: East Japan Center Malls
celebrates the ancient Japanese art of folding paper, with an exhibit of amazing origami, instructors showing new folds for all ages, a table where you can fold paper cranes for the World Tree of Hope in City Hall, and prizes by age for the best paper airplanes and origami at Japan Center.
