Summer is over, the kids are back in school but there are still plenty of fun events in San Francisco this September. There’s something for everyone to enjoy in San Francisco this month. From Bacon Festivals to the Big Book Sale, everyone can find something to enjoy.

Golden Gate Park Band

Concerts are free of charge and take place at the Spreckles Temple of Music in the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park. Regular Sunday concerts start at 1:00 p.m. and usually end between 2:30 and 2:45. There is no intermission. All concerts that feature music of specific nationalities or cultures include costumed guest performers, dancers, singers, and speakers who will enlighten and entertain.

San Francisco Feast

San Francisco Fringe Festival

The 26th annual San Francisco Fringe Festival will present 120 performances by 35+ theater companies between September 8th and September 23, 2017 in downtown San Francisco. The SF Fringe is open to all performers and is un-censored and non-curated with performers chosen by lottery.

The San Francisco Fringe Festival is produced by EXIT Theatre and is the largest grassroots theater festival in the Bay Area. During the last 25 years we have presented 4,964 performances by 1,050 theater companies and hosted thousands of Indie Theater workers on our stages.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival

When: September 9th and 10th, 2017

Where: Ghirardelli Square and on Beach Street

Ghirardelli Chocolate Company will host the 22nd Annual Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival attracting about 40,000 visitors from the Bay Area and around the world. This family-friendly event features prominent local chefs creating chocolate inventions during cooking demonstrations, live musical entertainment, and the popular “Earthquake” Ice Cream Sundae Eating Contest. Over 30 different booths from local restaurants, bakeries and chocolate companies will provide dessert samples during the two-day event.

Baconfest

Baconfest is a celebration of America’s Mightiest Meat and features Guy Fieri, chef, restaurateur and host of Diners Drive-ins & Dives who will be on stageboth days emceeing rounds of “Mystery Basket Style” amateur and professional bacon cooking contests. The Baconfest weekend features non-stop live music with 21 bands on two stages and top breweries serving sample and full size beers.

The Big Book Sal

The 53rd Annual Big Book Sale will be held at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion from September 20th – 24th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with our Preview Sale for members on the September 19th from 4-8 p.m. This year’s Big Book Sale will have twice the number of books in Ancient History, Architecture, Art, California & the West, Graphic Novels, Mathematics, Mythology, Nature, Philosophy, Photography, Science, Science Fiction and World History—more than 70 categories in all. There will also be twice as many Audio Books, CDs, DVDs and Vinyl. You never know what you’ll find!
